When it comes to choosing the best yeast for your fuel ethanol plant, the only choice is our FermPro™ strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. FermPro yeasts are carefully selected for their high ethanol yield, tolerance to high temperatures and osmotic stress, and ability to finish fermentation with the lowest possible levels of residual sugars.

We have yeast strains that are suitable for a wide range of mash types and have excellent performance in both batch and continuous fermentation processes. Research in our state-of-the-art lab facilities is ongoing to ensure our valued customers have the first possible opportunity to trial new improved strains as they are selected and approved. Coupled with our technical support staff providing you with all the parameters required for optimal performance from FermPro yeasts your plant will operate smoothly with as few fermentation problems as possible saving valuable time and keeping costs low.

FermGuard™ Processing Aides

Since 2006 our ethanol plant industrial use only FermGuard products are scientifically formulated from industry specific bacteria isolates discovered from actual ethanol plant experiences.   FermGuard products provide multiple Modes of Action; inhibition of cell wall (peptidoglycan) biosynthesis and translation at the ribosomal level which are carefully blended for optimal efficacy for any industrial contamination problem and certain FermGuard products Mode of Action inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the 50S sub-unit of bacterial ribosomes, which are responsible for making protein in the cell, a process commonly known as translation or protein synthesis.

  • Broad spectrum action against bacterial contaminants
  • Increased stability at low pH
  • Multiple modes of action to minimize resistance concerns
  • Long stable shelf life
  • Unique custom blends upon request
  • Active ingredients are not diluted by combined blends of ineffective ingredients or inactive fillers

PropGuard™ - HEPA air induction filters

Propagation is the heart of fermentation for an ethanol plant and can now be protected from airborne contamination with PropGuard exclusively from Ferm Solutions.

Contaminants dont have wings! So how do they travel around and ultimately get into fermentation?  Major sources include in-coming grain and other additives and through simple open air inductors providing oxygen to the propagation tank.  PropGuard was designed to simply protect your investment by eliminating contaminants such as Wild Yeast, Bacteria, Fungi and other contaminants from entering the propagation tank from its innovative high volume flow HEPA filter design that simply replaces the open air gates on standard ICM design plants.  HEPA filters offer the highest filteration with 99.97% filteration of bacteria, wild yeast and fungi at the source.  PropGuard offers the highest air induction protection in the industry!

Core Competency - Technical Optimization

Our Ph.D. researchers have extensive backgrounds in the biochemistry and modes of action of a wide array of antimicrobial compounds and how they work against bacteria under the conditions of fuel ethanol fermentations.  This technical information coupled with extensive research focusing on the bacteria that commonly (or uncommonly) contaminate fuel ethanol fermentations, are what we used to formulate our FermGuard™ antibacterial product line.

Our goal is to help you to effectively minimize bacterial contamination issues while lowering antibiotic usage through informed recommendations on proper cleaning and sanitation, identifying trouble spots, mash handling and considerations for recycled backset and factors affecting yeast performance.

Ferm Solutions has the widest selection of options for bacteria control in the fuel ethanol industry and has demonstrated leading technical services since 2006.  Contact us today for more information on modes of action, spectrum of activity, dosage recommendations and custom blends for specific contamination problems.
